As a part of my MA in Writing program, Technical and Professional track at Missouri State University, I took Professional Writing, where I worked on a class project developing PR material for Cabool, Missouri. I also took Designing Technical Documents, where I collaborated on a software user guide and tutorial video for non-profit groups in Joplin, Missouri.
ENG 771: Professional Writing
In this graduate-level technical communication course, our class partnered up with the residents of Cabool, Missouri to produce content, including video testimonials, for their city website and blog as well as produce a brochure.
For this project, I helped write the content for the Low Tax & Utility Rates page and wrote the A Supportive Partner page, the Available Real Estate page, the Education page, and the Low Cost of Living page. Additionally, I wrote a Cabool Spring Events blog post. I also produced content for the education and commercial and private real estate sections of the brochure and helped edit the overall content.

For this assignment, we were assigned a disease (in my case, Parkinson’s Disease) for which we were to create a patient information handout. I made the following brochure using Microsoft Publisher. The audience for this brochure are people aged 50 and above, those at the highest risk of being affected by the disease.
